The way the system informs the operators about a hazard ( exceptional situations) is by alarms.
If the operators are not aware of the new risks, they might not be able to prevent the failure .
An alarm is a signal ( Wiki ) generated by the system for informing the operators and the public about new risks in the operation.
Alarms are used to trigger the operators', to attract their attention, and to inform about operational risks .
After noticing an alarm, the operator should acknowledge the system about being aware of the hazard. The alarm is then replaced by a reminder, which should be noticed until the system recovers from the hazard.
In the recommended architecture, alarms are generated by the Alarm unit .
