Input

The alarm unit receives input about constraint violations

• From the scenario control Situation analyzer and hazards originated in the functional unit, and
• From the gates, about risks due to exceptional operator's activity when operating the stations .

Information processing

The alarm unit classifies, filters and prioritizes the input, and generates alarm s intended to ensure that the operator's are aware of the situation and its risks.

The information in the alarms is used for problem solving, and is different for the different alarm types, according to their tasks, related to the risky situations.

Output

The alarm unit sends output to:

• Various audio and visual displays in the stations, to serve the relevant operators, according to their situation.
• Event Recorder, used for learning about the effectiveness of the alarms.
