Automatic troubleshooting
Troubleshooting based on direct detection
If the detection is direct, using a sensor, then the
troubleshooting is simple, by transforming the sensor measurement to an
alarm.
Troubleshooting based on indirect detection
Troubleshooting is based on comparing the observed behavior with models of the
system behavior following the relevant faults. The models are obtained using prediction.
Prediction methods
- Analytic - by employing FMEA techniques.
Fault identification in these cases is based on comparing the observed behavior with those expected by employing the FMEA techniques.
- Simulation - comparing the observed behavior with those observed using a simulator
- Statistics - comparing the observed behavior with measurement of recurring faults.
