Extreme state
An extreme state is a range of values of a safety parameter, on the
boundaries of the
design scope. When the
system reaches an extreme state, the
operation becomes risky.
Examples
- An extreme height of a Tsunami wave, as was the case in Fukushima
(2011)
- An extreme hurricane wind, as was the case in New Orleans (2005)
- An extreme temperature measurement, as was the case in the
Bhopal disaster (1984).
