Shortcuts are key combinations used to provide fast and easy access to selected system features.

However, shortcuts are error-prone . It is easy to unintentionally miss or substitute one of the selected keys. The users may not be aware of making the error, and the results might be surprising.

Many of the users may accuse the operating system for the unexpected behavior. Many of them may accuse a virus: unseen and harmful. Few feel so frustrated and humiliated that they give up using the text processor, or even the computer.

Analysis

Many of the shortcuts are side effects of the software development. During the debugging and the testing, the developers introduce the shortcuts, in order to facilitate the activities required for the testing. Many of these shortcuts are of low or no value to the real users, yet they are there, for the sake of the testing.
