One of the popular text editors provided a very convenient shortcut for applying the Normal style on a selected paragraph. This shortcut is very useful for authors who want the text to have a uniform appearance: fonts, margins etc. The shortcut provided was the key combination Ctrl+Shift+N.
Sometimes, the users of this shortcut miss one of the keys in the combinations. When they missed the Ctrl, they type in the Capital N, which was easy to find and correct. When they missed the N, the combination Ctrl+Shift did not yield any effect. However, when they missed the Shift key, they actually activated the Ctrl+N combination. It happened the this combination was a shortcut of another command, which is to open an new document.
At this point the users are not prepared to having an empty document on screen. At first, they think that they lost the whole document on which they have been working for hours. It might take a while before they may notice that their work is still there, hiding behind a window that they created, unintentionally, and unknowingly.
Many of the users may accuse the operating system for the unexpected behavior. Many of them may accuse a virus: unseen and harmful. Few of the users feel so frustrated and humiliated that they give up using the text editor, or even the computer.
