The discipline of human factors emerged during WW2 following a series of significant, critical human errors ( Meister 1999 ).
The factors of state recognition and skill development are applicable mainly to routine operation, while the factors of change perception and initial learning are applicable mainly to alert recognition. The factors of mental workload and knowledge transfer are applicable mainly to recovery interaction. The factors of action selection errors are applicable mainly to routine operation, while the factors of perception errors are applicable to all interaction modes.
