Internal consistency

Occasionally, one of the system units may receive an exceptional event (a disturbance). As a result, an operational mode needs to change.

Inconsistency may appear in various shapes. One common shape is when a mode is not shared by all the units. When this happens, the operational situation might shift from normal to an exceptional .

Example

For example, in case of a unit failure, the operational scenario may change to "Unit Replacement". If all the system units operate now according to the new scenario, then the system is context compliant. Otherwise, if part of the system units still operated according to the pervious scenario, then the system reaches a state of internal inconsistency ( Zonnenshain & Harel, 2009 ; Harel & Weiss, 2011 ).
