The focus of the interaction design intended for exceptional situations should be attention oriented.
The interaction design should consider the main
operators' tasks, including those which are not related to the interaction design, and prioritize these tasks over interaction-related
activity.
Much of the
operator's time and mental efforts are wasted on
error detection,
troubleshooting and recovery. If acceptable, the
interaction design should
restrict
error-prone
activity.
It should be noted that restricting the operator's
activity might hamper the
operator's ability to tackle
exceptional situations .
