The scope of controlled activities

The scope of controlled activities is defined by all the rules included in the operational knowledge base applicable to controlling the operational activities.

The scope of normal situations

The scope of normal activities is a subset of the scope of controlled activities applicable to normal operation.

Example

A car may be in one of two primary modes: { Operative, Maintenance } and in one of two gear modes: { Drive, Park}.

The car response to pressing the Gas pedal depends on the primary and the driving modes, as follows:

The scope of controlled activities includes (Gas, Operative, Accelerate), (Gas, Park, beep), (Gas, Maintenance, anything).

The scope of normal activities includes  (Gas, Operative, Accelerate), (Gas, Maintenance, anything).
