In this example, the On-Off button of a home TV is used for turning on and off both the TV screen and the digital converter. The device affected by the On-Off button is the one that was selected most recently.

The problem is that the user sometimes fails to ensure that the desired device is indeed selected. In case of confusion, the users might unintentionally turn on or off the wrong device.
